About

Brooks Kimmey became the pastor of First Baptist Church of Robinson in July of 2016. His prayer is that God would use this site to equip people in their relationship with Jesus and with His church. This includes his fellow church members along with anyone else desiring to grow in living out their Christian faith.

In Ephesians 4:11 the Apostle Paul describes various gifted people given to the church, such as evangelists, and pastors and teachers. He then shares their purpose in verse 12, “to equip the saints for the work of the ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ.”

The word equip used here carries with it the idea of preparing, training, and making ready. Those who trust in Jesus for salvation have the awesome calling of serving Him and serving others. And this equipping process provides them the instruction they need to fulfill that calling.

In short, church leaders fulfill their calling from God by training and instructing every believer in the church to use their gifts to serve and build one another up. If this function is carried out, the church will grow up in maturity and in unity.

Brooks is a graduate of Baylor University and Dallas Theological Seminary. He partners in life and ministry with his lovely wife, Katy, and their four children, Deacon, Lincoln, Shepherd, and Annie.
